Polar Systems is one of Norfolk's largest engineering firms, delivering both large scale and specialist projects across the UK and internationally. We design and manufacture a wide range of stainless steel food processing machinery in house, supporting customers across multiple sectors with high quality, reliable engineering solutions.
To meet growing demand and maintain the highest standards for our customers, we are seeking a skilled Site Engineer to join our modern, well equipped team.
Our Site Team plays a vital role in the installation of our machinery and supports a rapidly expanding subcontract market. The team benefits from full backing from our workshop based engineers and facilities, ensuring seamless project delivery from fabrication to installation.
As a member of the Site Team, you will be involved in machinery installations, working with automated systems, improving production facilities, and enhancing the reliability and safety of plant operations both in the UK and overseas.
Key Responsibilities
Hands?on fault?finding and troubleshooting
Maintenance, repair, and on site manufacturing of systems
Continuous improvement of equipment and processes
Organizing workflow and coordinating activities with customers
Installing machinery using engineering drawings
Working safely and efficiently at all times
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Skilled maintenance engineer
Experience with automated production lines, processing machinery, and conveyors
Competent in MIG and TIG welding processes
Previous experience in food manufacturing, FMCG, or production environments
Able to work independently and as part of a small team
Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all departments
High standard welding and fabrication skills for stainless?steel food?processing machinery
Confident decision making under pressure
Strong problem solving ability both on site and in the workshop
Commitment to maintaining high craftsmanship standards
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Salary: 19.00 to 19.70 per hour

Qualifications
Formal academic qualifications are not essential. However, an advanced apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Welding and Fabrication would be advantageous.
Candidates must have relevant experience in a similar role or within Polar Systems' scope of work. Experience in fabricating stainless?steel processing equipment and a solid engineering foundation are essential.
A weld test and the production of a sample piece from a supplied drawing will be required at interview.
