Established in 1997 as the first manufacturer of sushi for the UK supermarket industry, Taiko has evolved into the most innovative manufacturer of Sushi, Food To Go, Prepared Meals and Snacking products in the UK, supplying Waitrose, Tesco and Sainsbury's to name a few. Over the past 25 years Taiko has launched more first to market Sushi and Food to Go products than any other sushi manufacturer in the UK.


Proven track record in engineering management within food manufacturing or FMCG. Strong leadership skills with experience managing multi-shift teams and contractors. Excellent knowledge of maintenance systems, Lean principles, and continuous improvement tools. Confident managing budgets, delivering CAPEX projects, and influencing at senior level. Electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3 or above) and relevant H&S training (IOSH Managing Safely, PUWER, etc.)

The Role:

Lead and inspire a multi-shift engineering team to deliver exceptional maintenance, reliability, and efficiency across all site equipment. Develop and deliver the site's engineering strategy, including CAPEX projects, asset renewal, and continuous improvement initiatives. Drive operational excellence with robust planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance strategies to minimise downtime. Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Work collaboratively with production, quality, and other site teams to ensure engineering fully supports smooth manufacturing operations. Manage budgets, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure cost-effective, high-quality engineering solutions.
