Nisbets Limited are currently recruiting for a Site Maintenance Engineering Manager to join our Operations team in Avonmouth and lead the maintenance and performance of our advanced automation systems at our main fulfilment centre.
This role will be based at our Avonmouth site.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring all automation and equipment is maintained to the highest standards. You will drive operational excellence through proactive maintenance, contractor management, and continuous improvement initiatives, supporting the future growth of our business.
You will lead the development of maintenance plans, manage specialist contractors, and work closely with colleagues across operations, safety, and compliance to deliver a world-class service. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, commercially aware engineering leader with a strong background in automation, logistics, or industrial environments.
Key Accountabilities
Lead and manage the site maintenance engineering team, providing coaching and development.
Develop and implement planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and systems.
Supervise safe working practices, maintenance procedures, and colleague training.
Manage workflows and assign tasks to ensure operational coverage and peak equipment performance.
Oversee specialist contractors, including supervision, permit issuing, and performance reviews.
Deliver services within agreed project and P&L budgets, providing regular cost and KPI reports.
Manage spare part inventory and maintain accurate maintenance records.
Use root cause analysis to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
Engage with operations teams to understand equipment performance and requirements.
Ensure compliance with all quality, safety, and company policies.
Promote a strong safety-first culture aligned with our SQE Management System.
Capabilities, Skills and Experience Required
Engineering qualification and background.
Proven experience managing maintenance teams, ideally in warehouse automation, logistics, or industrial environments.
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop technical colleagues.
Hands-on experience with troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance programmes.
Strong technical understanding and problem-solving skills.
Data analytical skills and commercial awareness.
Organised, detail-oriented, and familiar with safety regulations and industry best practices.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
