Company Overview:

We are a well-established road freight operator specialising in deliveries to the isle of man. Our company provides essential logistics, transportation, and warehousing services to a variety of clients, ensuring that goods are delivered safely and efficiently. We are currently undergoing a major site redevelopment, which includes the construction of a 72,000 sq ft warehouse and a 115-bay trailer park. As we continue to grow and expand, we are looking for a dedicated General Maintenance Person to help maintain and support the smooth operation of our site, contributing to both our transport, warehouse and site facilities.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and proactive General Maintenance Person to join our team. This hands-on role involves a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the site, including transport and warehousing areas, remains clean, safe, and operational. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the premises, performing minor repairs, and supporting the overall upkeep of the site, contributing to the smooth operation of our transport and warehousing services.

Key Responsibilities:

General Maintenance:

Carry out regular checks and maintenance across the site, ensuring all areas, including transport and warehousing zones, are kept clean and in good working order.

Painting:

Conduct basic painting tasks to maintain the aesthetic appeal and condition of buildings, storage units, and infrastructure.

Gardening:

Oversee all aspects of gardening and landscaping, including maintaining lawns, planting/watering shrubs and trees.

Jet Washing:

Use jet washers to clean surfaces, including pavements, walls, warehouse floors, and other external and internal areas including working at height.

Litter Picking & Brushing:

Regularly collect litter and ensure all areas, including warehouse spaces and loading bays, are free of debris.

Gritting & Snow Clearing:

Assist in gritting walkways and clearing snow during colder months to ensure safety and prevent accidents around transport and warehouse areas.

Minor Electrical Works:

Perform small electrical repairs and maintenance such as changing lightbulbs, maintaining electrical fixtures in warehouses, and supporting any warehouse equipment issues.

Minor Plumbing Works:

Conduct small plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks, unblocking drains, or replacing taps within the warehouse and other facilities.

Fire Safety:

Support fire safety protocols by regularly testing alarms, extinguishers, and other safety equipment, especially within the warehousing area, to ensure compliance with regulations.

Trailer Parking Areas:

Inspect and repair trailer parking bay bump stops, ensuring they are securely in place and functional to prevent damage to trailers and infrastructure.

Health & Safety:

Ensure all tasks are performed in line with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment for all staff and visitors across both transport and warehousing areas.

Other Duties:

Assist with any other site-related maintenance tasks as required by the transport or warehousing teams.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

Proven experience in site maintenance or a similar role Ability to carry out painting, jet washing, and general repairs Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good physical stamina and ability to work in varying weather conditions Familiarity with health and safety regulations Strong communication skills
Desirable:

Previous experience in a transport or warehousing business Basic understanding of fire safety procedures and equipment Knowledge of the local area and its specific maintenance requirements

Will be dependent on experience on the duties listed above

Hours:

Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:30

Holidays:

20 Days Per year Plus Bank Holidays.
