On-Site Transport Operations Manager



Overview:



We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced On-Site Transport Operations Manager to oversee a team of 15 drivers at our clients facility. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, a thorough understanding of final mile logistics, and a proven track record in managing transportation teams and processes. As the On-Site Transport Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods, maintaining safety standards, and motivating a team of drivers..

Key Responsibilities



Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and manage a team of drivers, and support staff. Foster a collaborative and motivated work environment, ensuring effective communication, training, and performance management.

Recruit, induct and train new drivers to GSG and the clients standards. This will include H&S training, manual handling, vehicle checks and on the job training.

Operational Efficiency: Develop and implement strategies to optimize transportation operations, including route planning, load optimization, fuel efficiency, and vehicle maintenance schedules.

Safety and Compliance Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations, company policies, and relevant transportation laws. Conduct regular safety training sessions, inspections, and audits to minimize risks and maintain compliance.

Performance Monitoring Utilise key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track operational performance, identify trends, and address areas for improvement. Regularly report on operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service quality.

-Process Improvement Continuously analyse transportation processes, identify bottlenecks, and recommend and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.

Resource Allocation Manage resources effectively, including vehicles, equipment, and personnel, to meet operational demands while controlling costs.

Emergency Response Develop and implement contingency plans for unexpected events such as accidents, traffic disruptions, and adverse weather conditions to ensure minimal impact on operations.

Communication Facilitate open and effective communication between teams, including logistics, warehouse, and customer service departments, to ensure a smooth flow of information and goods.

Qualifications



Proven experience in managing transportation operations in London, preferably within a fast-paced distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environment.

Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.

Proficiency in using transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software tools.

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, coupled with strong analytical skills.

Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances in a dynamic operational environment.

A proactive and innovative mindset, with a continuous improvement approach to operations.
