The Site Manager oversees all aspects of operations at a recycling plant, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role is responsible for managing plant personnel, optimizing production processes, enforcing safety and environmental regulations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Site Manager plays a key leadership role in delivering plant performance in line with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
Manage the day-to-day operations of the recycling plant, including production, maintenance, logistics, and quality assurance.
Ensure plant output meets volume, quality, and delivery targets.
Monitor KPIs and drive performance improvements in throughput, downtime, and efficiency.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team including supervisors, operators, technicians, and support staff.
Drive a performance-focused culture through training, coaching, and development.
Manage shift rosters, workforce planning, and staffing levels.
Maintenance & Reliability
Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability and availability.
Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance schedules for pelletising, conveyors, crushers, screens, and other plant assets.
Supply Chain & Logistics
Collaborate with logistics, procurement, and warehouse teams to ensure raw material availability and outbound pellet dispatch.
Oversee storage and handling of pellets to maintain quality and compliance.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure all production meets internal and customer quality specifications.
Work closely with lab and quality teams to analyse test data and implement corrective actions.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Enforce adherence to all HSE standards, policies, and procedures.
Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
Lead site emergency response and incident investigations.
Cost Control & Budgeting
Manage plant operating budget and control costs related to production, labor, materials, and energy.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Reporting & Communication
Prepare and present regular reports on production, safety, quality, and performance metrics.
Serve as the main point of contact for senior management, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Mechanical/Process Engineering, or related discipline desirable.
Minimum 5-7 years of leadership experience in manufacturing, processing, or heavy industry (Plastic compounding/pelletising, mining, cement, or biomass preferred).
Strong understanding of industrial equipment, control systems, and maintenance practices.
Proven ability to manage large teams and complex operations.
Knowledge of HSE regulations, ISO standards, and lean manufacturing principles.
Excellent communication, decision-making, and organizational skills.

Work Conditions:
Industrial plant environment with periodic exposure to noise, dust, and heat.
Regular walking, climbing, and supervision in operational zones.
Full PPE required; availability for shift and weekend coverage as needed.
