The Role...
This role is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of hydro generator overhaul, maintenance, and repair projects. The Site Manager is the operational leader, working closely with the project management team to efficiently deliver the work scope, meet budgets and project milestones, and provide exceptional customer service, all while upholding company safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities...
Manage hydro site works and oversee day-to-day operations to ensure tasks meet engineering plans and project milestones.
Supervise workforce performance, enforce quality control measures, and manage resources and materials efficiently.
Act as main point of contact between contractors, engineers, commissioning teams, and clients; take ownership of site and customer communications.
Participate in project close-out activities and capture lessons learned.
Implement and monitor strict health and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, environmental permits, and company procedures.
Provide hands-on training and coaching to site personnel, enhancing technical skills, safety awareness, and operational competence.
Support project development by using technical knowledge to identify and develop new and existing hydro opportunities.
Assist in generating quotations and estimates by assessing work scope, identifying risks, and advising on delivery timescales.
Monitor project costs, identify efficiency improvements, and alert project team to potential budget or schedule risks.
Produce Risk Assessments & Method Statements aligned with project scope and instructions, working with the project team to improve site documentation quality.
Your skills and experiences:
Demonstrable experience working within the Hydro project industry
BTEC/HND in Electrical Engineering
Awareness of financial impacts on project success
Show drive, enthusiasm, and motivation to succeed
Customer-focused with strong organisational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Able to work flexibly, on own initiative, and as part of a team
Shows desire to promote a culture of Continuous Improvement
Ideally, experience working with and supervising a team
Prepared to visit and work onsite within the UK and internationally
