Job Summary


Day to day responsibilities for this role will be to ensure that all sites are safe and clean for the pupils and staff that use them. This will include management of site staff, undertaking quality and compliance checks and managing a schedule of repairs and maintenance, including reactive maintenance where necessary. Our sites include St Marys, St Martins, St Agnes, Tresco and Mundesley Boarding House.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:



To be responsible for the overall security arrangements of the premises including ensuring that staff are aware of the procedures on security and the use of alarm systems, that there is an appropriate system of keyholding management, that periodic reviews off site security are conducted and that appropriate progress action is followed through.

Control and monitor facilities budgets around maintenance and consumables within budget guidelines and ensure quality and value for money and meeting financial regulations.

Manage all forms of access and egress with pedestrian and public paths and gates, ensuring that all are compliant, serviced and safe.

Manage the processes around seasonal conditions and safe access and communications with staff are regular and up to date.

To organise, supervise and assist in day to day and major cleaning activities.

To draw up maintenance schedules and set routine programmes of work for cleaning staff and caretakers, to ensure consistently high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, upkeep and safety of all Academy buildings and premises.

To be responsible for the upkeep of playing fields, gardens, all weather surfaces (MUGA) and land drainage.

To ensure the maintenance of boundaries, footpaths, roads and rights of way within the Academy premises.

To be responsible for the letting of Academy premises to outside organisations and Academy staff and for the development of all Academy facilities for out-of-school use. To be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance and upkeep of the premises and equipment, including the required safety checks. To liaise with the appropriate staff on all aspects of maintenance.

To determine whether maintenance should be undertaken in-house or by commissioned contract services and to assist in the selection of contract services where appropriate through consultation with the Headteacher.

To obtain appropriate additional licenses for planned events that are not covered by the Premises License.

To be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all premises-related mechanical, electrical, heating services and other plant, including ensuring the completion of all annual portable appliance testing, monitoring and recording of meter readings/returns as required and ensuring adequate fuel supplies.

To take appropriate action to ensure and monitor proper safe levels of lighting, heating and ventilation.

To be responsible for the ordering and checking of invoices, monitoring of budgets and keeping stock records of all equipment and tools within the postholder's sphere of responsibility.

To be responsible for devising, reviewing and updating the Academy disaster recovery plan through consultation with the Headteacher and to ensure such procedures are clearly communicated to all staff and members of the Academy management team.

To respond to emergencies, when necessary, in respect of accident, failure, break-in, vandalism or weather as directed by the Headteacher.

To manage tenanted properties ensuring that appropriate agreements are in place and that relevant legislation informs processes and procedures.

To work closely with house-parents to ensure that Mundesley Boarding house is compliant and remains a clean and safe residence for pupils.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 28,288.00-35,266.00 per year
