We are currently seeking to recruit experienced Site Managers with proven track record in delivering utility scale solar installations.

With our Head Offices based in Exeter and contracts across the UK, we are looking for an individual who enjoys a varied role to become a key member of the team. The role will be predominately site based though successful candidates will be required to assist with pre-construction activities working with Olympus staff.

Core Responsibilities

Operations & Construction Management:

Direct daily site operations for civil, structural, and electrical trades. Oversee the installation of PV modules, mounting systems, and high-voltage (HV) infrastructure.

Required Qualifications & Skills



Experience:

Typically requires

3+years

of experience in utility-scale solar PV or large-scale energy infrastructure.

Certifications:

Essential certifications include

SMSTS

(Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent, and often a

CSCS

card (Management level).

Technical Knowledge:

Deep understanding of electrical systems (inverters, transformers, SCADA) and civil works (cable trenching, piling).

Education:

A degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field is preferred.

Soft Skills:

Strong leadership, independent problem-solving, and the ability to manage diverse teams in remote or rural environments.

Typical Work Environment



Location:

We have multiple sites UK wide including Scotland, East Anglia and Wales and in remote or rural areas; significant travel is common.

Availability:

May require being on-call for critical site issues or commissioning phases.

Safety & Compliance:

Enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols. Deliver site inductions, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure strict adherence to CDM regulations and Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS).

Contractor & Resource Coordination:

Manage Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts and supervise multiple subcontractors. Coordinate logistics, material deliveries, and equipment allocation to minimize delays.

Quality Assurance (QA/QC):

Conduct regular site inspections and verify that works meet Issued-For-Construction (IFC) plans and technical specifications.

Stakeholder Liaison:

Act as the primary on-site point of contact for project managers, local utilities, landowners, and regulatory agencies.

Reporting & Documentation:

Provide accurate daily and weekly progress reports, monitor project schedules via tools like Microsoft Project, and maintain site-specific documentation.

Experience:



We are looking for passionate people that can communicate effectively, work well when part of a team and have a strong customer service focus. Strong interpersonal skills. Dedication to timescales and attention to detail where appropriate. A safe pair of hands. Relevant experience in similar roles for the the delivery of utility scale sites (references will be required). . Electrical contracting experience will be well regarded as well a HSE qualification (SMSTS, IOSH) Problem-solving needs to be something you enjoy and are good at. A strong drive to deliver on time, on budget, and on quality is essential.

Salary:



This is a fixed term contract and offering a pro-rated salary based on experience in the following range: 50,000 - 60,000. Remuneration is negotiable DOE.
