Site Procurement Manager

Location: Barnard Castle

Office 2-3 days a week required

The Site Procurement Manager partners with the local Site team in order to drive and support across all the dimensions of Procurement delivery. At a strategic level, the Site Procurement Manager supports the alignment with the Site Leadership Team; ensures the Site business needs and priorities are well understood and supported from Global Category Procurement teams and contributes, directly or indirectly, to the strategic management of key suppliers.

From a more tactical perspective, the Site Procurement Manager supports the local site Procurement team in the operational management of activities, implementation of sourcing strategies and other global projects.

They also ensure that the daily needs and transactional activities are executed in accordance with GSK\xe2\x80\x99s policies and SOPs and that the communication provided to the local Procurement team and the stakeholder community is relevant and effective. Within the team you will have direct reports of Site Procurement specialists who report to the Site Procurement Manager.

  • Support the Implementation of Global Procurement processes, policies, guidelines and strategies at a local site level and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure the Site business requirements are taken into account within the definition and implementation of Global Category strategies
  • Develop and implement robust Procurement strategies for local owned categories of spend that clearly meet business requirements.
  • Manages / monitors ongoing negotiations with third parties
  • Knows and utilizes complex business processes in all GSK supplier transactions, including all risk/regulatory/compliance requirements
  • Implements and supports procurement strategies to maximise supplier leverage
  • Significant external supplier knowledge
Procurement Management:
  • Lead a team of 2 Procurement specialist based on site
  • Create strong business partnership with Site Leadership team
  • Develop and manage the Site supply base to meet GSK\xe2\x80\x99s requirements: assurance of supply, quality, regulatory, service, cost, and innovation
  • For specific Categories, actively negotiate contracts.
  • Cost management. Support the reduction of end-to-end total costs of the Site (Direct and Indirect Spend Categories).
  • Co-ordinate support from multiple Category teams and work within a matrix organization. Manage relationships with other Procurement staff at site and Category level remotely.
  • Create and deliver value creation pipeline using advance Procurement techniques and skills (e.g game theory, should cost modelling\xe2\x80\xa6)
Risk Management:
  • Evaluate and mitigate risk associated with local suppliers, including management and escalations of supply issues.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance or Business Management,
  • Operational Procurement / Supply Chain experience across multiple categories of spend
  • Management of Procurement tools such as sourcing, quotation analysis, contract negotiation, supplier review, supplier development and others
  • Ability to drive & implement change
  • Ability to manage sensitive partnerships, strong influencing and stakeholder partnering skills coupled with excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills \xe2\x80\x93 fluent English.
Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Experience working in a Regulated environment
  • Ability to work in high pressure environment, often under tight deadlines
  • Financial acumen
  • Ability to operate and influence across all business units and across multiple disciplines
  • Understanding of risk management
