Job Description

As a Welder, you will be responsible for welding steel components using MIG, TIG and MMA welding processes. You will work from engineering drawings, sample components, complete quality checks, and ensure all welds meet coded standards as required.

Performing mechanical fitting tasks, including assembly & disassembly of railway vehicle components associated with component manufacture and repair.

Physically capable of manual handling tasks within a workshop setting
Ensuring precision and quality in welding process to meet specified tolerances and standards

Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment
Proven experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment

Minimum Skills / Experience Required: Fabricator/Welder

Previous experience welding on heavy gauge steel / plate work
Proven experience of MIG, TIG and MMA welding processes
Reading Technical Drawings: Ability to interpret engineering drawings to manufacture or repair components to specification working to required tolerance.

Experience with using power tool and workshop machinery associated with fabrication process, as required.

Competent in the use of fabrication machinery: guillotine, band saw, pillar drill, and hand tools.

Using Oxy/Acetylene and Plasma cutting

Understanding of Materials

The ability to work well as part of a team, as well as independently

City & Guilds / NVQ in welding or similar

Previously coded in MIG / TIG/MMA welding

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative in a fast-paced setting
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work

Location - Carnforth, North Lancashire

Hours - 40.5hrs per week

Pay rate - negotiable dependant on experience

Contract - Full time, permanent
