Job Summary



The Skilled Construction Worker / Operator will take the lead in building and installing test structures and equipment to support a wide range of testing operations. You will work closely with technicians to ensure tests run smoothly and meet strict quality and safety standards. Adaptability and leadership are key, as you'll be expected to take ownership of tasks and guide others where needed.

General



To support testing in all areas.

Carrying out such tasks and duties as directed by the Operations Manager, General Manager or Director.

Key Responsibilities



Support construction and installation of test assemblies, including walls, floors, ceilings, and other supporting structures according to test specifications.

Build test assemblies and supporting constructions such as walls, floors, windows, doors and ceilings according to test specifications.

Interpret construction drawings and ensure structures are built accurately and safely.

Install test-related equipment such as transducers and thermocouples following relevant standards.

Collaborate with technicians during tests, providing hands-on support and assistance.

Work under guidance or as instructed technicians to execute complex tests and troubleshoot issues.

Handle test samples, including transporting them between conditioning rooms and test equipment.

Operate a forklift to load/unload vehicles and move materials within the facility (training provided if necessary).

Perform general housekeeping tasks, including cleaning test equipment and surrounding areas after tests and disposing of waste materials.

Support business improvement works by applying construction expertise to upgrade facilities and infrastructure.

Adhere to the quality management system and all health and safety protocols.

Knowledge, skills and experience



Construction experience is essential, with proven hands-on expertise in building and installation tasks.

Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and work to precise specifications.

Proficient in using a wide range of hand and power tools.

Previous exposure to the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) industry is desirable but not essential.

Strong awareness of quality control standards and attention to detail.
