This 10-week Skills Bootcamp offers aspiring animators the opportunity to develop the technical, creative, and professional skills needed to succeed in a studio environment.



Led by an experienced animation tutor and supported by A Productions, the bootcamp focuses on the core principles of animation, studio-standard workflows, and employability skills.



Participants will complete a series of structured projects designed to replicate real-world animation production, with personalised feedback to help refine and strengthen their work.



You will also gain valuable insight into working within a production pipeline, develop portfolio-ready work, and receive guidance to help you identify your ideal role within the animation industry.

What will you learn?





This Skills Bootcamp is designed to prepare learners for the expectations of working in a professional animation studio. You'll build technical confidence, sharpen your creative storytelling, and develop industry-informed work that showcases your strengths.



As part of the programme, you'll take on a studio style project, replicating shots from a brand-new animated TV series produced by A Productions for Terrific Television. You'll use real industry assets and follow studio workflows, gaining experience and insight into how professional episodes are created. This is a unique opportunity to align your skills with industry expectations.



Core Focus Areas include:


3D Animation - including posing, weight, timing, acting Shot Planning - interpreting a creative brief and planning shots Animation Workflow - blocking, splining, and polishing techniques Feedback Cycles - how to effectively take on and implement professional notes Teamwork and Pipelines - simulating collaboration within a remote studio environment Showreel Development - producing portfolio assets that reflect industry standards
By the end of the bootcamp, you'll complete a polished animation project, build a showreel, and gain greater clarity on the animation career path that suits your skills and interests.

Eligibility





This course is aimed at individuals aged 19+ who have some prior experience or interest in 3D animation and are looking to enhance their skills for employment in the creative industries. A basic knowledge of animation principles and 3D software (e.g. Maya, Blender) is expected.



You must:


Live in (or plan to work in) the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority region (Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, or North Somerset) Have the right to work in the UK
