Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Programmes & Curriculum to lead the development, delivery, and quality assurance of our diverse training portfolio. This pivotal role requires a visionary leader who can drive innovation in curriculum design, ensure excellence in program delivery, and foster strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and awarding bodies. You will play a crucial role in shaping the educational landscape of our organization and ensuring our offerings remain relevant and impactful.

Key Responsibilities



Programme Strategy & Development:



o Lead the strategic planning and development of training programmes and curriculum across various sectors, identifying emerging industry needs and skills gaps.

o Conduct market research and feasibility studies to ensure programmes are current, relevant, and attractive to learners and employers.

o Work collaboratively with industry experts, employers, and internal teams to ensure curriculum content meets professional standards and accreditation requirements.

Curriculum Leadership & Quality Assurance:



o Oversee the continuous review, update, and enhancement of existing programme curricula, ensuring alignment with national standards, regulatory frameworks, and awarding body guidelines.

o Establish and maintain robust quality assurance processes for all training programmes, including internal verification, learner feedback mechanisms, and outcome monitoring.

o Ensure all programmes are delivered to the highest standards, maintaining consistently high learner satisfaction and achievement rates.

o Manage accreditation processes and relationships with relevant awarding bodies.

Operational Management:



o Manage programme budgets, resources, and timelines effectively to ensure efficient and timely delivery of training.

o Work closely with the tutor/assessor team to ensure they have the necessary resources, training, and support to deliver outstanding instruction.

o Oversee the scheduling and resourcing of all training programmes, optimizing capacity and utilization.

o Develop and implement efficient administrative processes to support programme delivery and learner management.

Team Leadership & Development:



o Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tutors and assessors, building a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and professional growth.

o Conduct performance reviews, provide ongoing coaching, and identify professional development opportunities for the team.

Stakeholder Engagement:



o Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including employers, industry associations, funding bodies, and awarding organisations.

o Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote our training offerings and gather insights.

Skills & Experience Required



Educational Leadership:

Proven experience (e.g., 5+ years) in a senior role within vocational education, training programme management, or curriculum development.

Strategic Thinking:

Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for programme growth and curriculum innovation.

Curriculum Expertise:

In-depth knowledge of vocational qualifications frameworks, curriculum design principles, and quality assurance processes in education.

Project Management:

Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple programmes simultaneously from conception to completion.

Financial Acumen:

Experience in budget management and resource allocation for training programmes.

Team Leadership:

Demonstrable experience in leading, managing, and motivating a team of educational professionals.

Communication & Influence:

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.

IT Proficiency:

Proficient in using learning management systems (LMS), administrative software, and standard office applications.

Desired Qualifications



A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent).

A relevant Assessor and/or Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) qualification (e.g., A1/TAQA, V1/IQA).

A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline.
