Skills Project Manager
, you will play a pivotal role in managing the operational delivery of one or more of the partnerships that the UKAEA has undertaken to deliver on these skills interventions, including the OAS contract, working with the Project sponsor to support a profitable delivery that meets the needs of the contract holder, the UKAEA, and other strategic partners. It may also include the West Burton Training Facility, working with local stakeholders in the East Midlands to design and coordinate a training programme that meets the needs of STEP, other local employers, and wider local communities and stakeholders. You will also support the successful delivery of other technical skills development projects related to ongoing skills partnerships, such as QuEST-FuSED - a new training delivery collaboration with STFC based at the OAS - to ensure a compliant and co-ordinated approach aligned with the UKAEA's Skills Strategy. In addition, you will be a key point of contact for the UKAEA with external partners and will have a strong understanding of the strategic and business context of skills partnerships, including the impact they will have on local communities.
Key Accountabilities:
Operational Management
Act as a key operational point of contact representing the UKAEA with partnership stakeholders.
Coordinate, attend, take minutes, and action operational meetings.
Monitor progress against agreed partnership KPIs and manage the review process.
Report on progress to appropriate Governance Boards.
Ensure that appropriate corporate legal status, governance/ financial procedures and health and safety measures are all compliant and maintaining the appropriate audit trail.
Support the contract holder with relevant strategic development of the partnership.
Maintain oversight of projects, particularly estimate collation, planning, cost forecast and monitoring, overall execution strategy delivery.
Evaluate and present decisions that secure the benefits the project is tasked to deliver.
Resolve obstacles to strategy delivery and leading the identification and employment of creative solutions to overcoming them.
Oversee effective communication within the project and assist the sponsor through interactions with stakeholders, defining the project milestones and deliverables.
Manage project document development for a project lifecycle in compliance with the UKAEA's Quality Assurance requirements.
Report of progress against milestones, changes, exceptions, budgets and other key performance indicators.
Ensure that the project SHE culture and working practices are in alignment with the UKAEA requirements.
Liaise with other Groups and Departments to ensure effective co-ordination and collaboration across interfaces and competing demands.
Strategic Development
Work alongside the Apprenticeships Project Manager to define strategic development and growth of existing or new skills partnerships in line with their mission and the UKAEA's needs.
Administer the UKAEA Skills Forum and assist the Apprenticeships Project Manager with the development and implementation of the UKAEA's Skills Strategy.
Seek opportunities to enhance Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in the skills pipeline to ensure that the future UK fusion industry draws upon, utilises and rewards as diverse workforce as possible.

Qualifications
------------------
Essential:
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to make sound economic decisions that maximise a project's value.
Demonstrable experience of stakeholder management within the public sector, industry and academia, preferably in the engineering sector.
Good knowledge of the UKAEA programmes, activities, mission and strategic goals.
Broad understanding of skills development practices.
Track record of delivering projects to budget, time and cost.
Strong strategic mindset with a passion for ensuring good project management practices and culture.
Excellent communication, influencing, and collaboration skills.
Flexibility - willingness to multi-task and help others.
Professionally recognised project, programme or portfolio management qualification desirable or equivalent experience.
Government Contract Practitioner or working towards qualification.
Background in education, learning and development, or other skills related roles is desirable.
