Leading and managing the slicing operation within the bakery, ensuring bread is sliced, packed, and prepared for dispatch in line with the daily production plan.
Maintaining high standards of product quality, safety and efficiency, while working collaboratively across departments and driving continuous improvement.
Delivering the daily slicing plan, ensuring accurate throughput, product quality, and on-time dispatch.
Liaising with Planning and Dispatch teams to meet vehicle departure times, manage stock levels, and ensure product availability (FIFO).
Ensuring the correct set-up of tags and slicers for adherence to Brace's quality standards (visually).
Controlling packaging usage, ensuring correct date codes and formats are applied and waste is minimised.
Accurately recording and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including output, downtime, waste, labour efficiency.
Performing regular basket stock counts, ensuring adequate levels and correct rotation.
Monitoring and managing product returns, investigating root causes, and identifying and implementing corrective actions.
Maintaining the operating condition of slicers and frames for the smooth running of slicing across both sites, liaising with Engineering team as necessary for repairs and planned maintenance.
Liaising with Dispatch to ensure that appropriate quantities of required product are available
Working closely with the Hygiene Team to maintain a clean and audit-ready environment, upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene.
Promoting a clean-as-you-go culture, ensuring the work area remains tidy, free from hazards throughout all shifts, and that waste is removed ensuring correct and safe use of the compactor.
Fostering a strong health and safety culture, ensuring near misses are reported, risk assessments are up-to-date, and safe systems of work are followed.
Identifying and addressing training needs, developing and supporting team leaders to improve capability and team performance.
Leading with a continuous improvement mindset and fostering that amongst the team, identifying opportunities to optimise efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall performance.
Ensuring the slicing area remains audit-ready at all times, with robust documentation and full compliance with internal and external standards.
Deputising for the Production Shift Manager in their absence.
Line managing employees within area of responsibility, including effective training, managing performance, discipline and attendance.
Ensuring employees are adhering to all Company procedures, including health and safety, food safety and quality policies and procedures.

About you:
Experience:
Proven experience managing teams in a food manufacturing or bakery environment
Lean manufacturing techniques e.g. 5S, Kaizen (desirable)
Knowledge/Qualifications:
Strong understanding of food safety, quality control and production planning
ILM Level 5 or above, or a willingness to work towards and achieve within an agreed timeframe
Food Safety Level 3 or equivalent (desirable)
IOSH Managing Safely (desirable)
Skills:
Excellent communication both verbal and written
Strong line management skills with the ability to work effectively across functions
Competent in using and interpreting KPIS to drive performance improvements
Able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced production environment
Excellent problem-solving skills
Able to work at speed with accuracy and attention to detail

The shift pattern for this role is 3 on / 3 off, working 12-hour rotating between day and night shifts.
