A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Social Care Officer to join our new innovative Overnight Responder Service. As we know TEC is capable of providing an effective solution to meet demands on health and social care services and help address the challenge of delivering care and support to those with Complex Needs (primarily learning disabilities and autism) in communities. The future delivery of social care lies in a partnership between person centred one to one support and a creative and bespoke technology enabled care packages.



You be part of the newly developed remote responder service across Perth and Kinross, the initial focus will be within Perth City but broadening out to the rural localities in Perth & Kinross. The Overnight Responder staff member would work alongside our existing Community Alarm & Telecare Service who will support with triage, you will also have the opportunity to provide planned support/response virtually, whilst working in partnership with the Community Alarm and Telecare Service and commissioned providers within Perth and Kinross.



Technology is bespoke to each individual and their support requirements, it is inclusive of a range of sensors which track movement/ activity, alerting staff if unusual patterns are identified, in some cases triggering a responder visit, a Video Call Hub which provides two-way communication as and when required as part of triage, both routinely and in crisis situations, the technology is adaptable and can be individualised to for example monitor elements of an individual's health.



You will be based in our Community Alarm and Telecare Service in Perth and work alongside the existing wakened night resource and supplement it in terms of additional members of staff.



It will be your role to ensure speedy, efficient and appropriate responses are carried out to all requests. The role can be fast paced and requires experienced individuals who can think on their feet. The role also requires a level of IT and admin skills.

The role will be on a wakened nightshift basis and will involve responding to-

Technology alerts and alarm activations Planned / unplanned virtual responses Personal Care Requests Emergency Support Safeguarding the individual's welfare and well being Technical Support Supports after a fall

You will be enthusiastic, motivated, have a keen interest and willingness to deliver care and support to those with Complex Needs (primarily learning disabilities and autism) in communities. You will support individuals through a response to technology alerts and alarm activations, this will include planned and unplanned virtual response as per support plans, you will be expected to provide direct support to individuals across a variety of tasks. This may also include moving and handling and administering medications.



It is essential that you have good communication skills and the ability to build relationships and communicate at varying levels with individuals, colleagues and other professionals.



Due to the response and lone working elements of this role it is essential that you drive and a geographical knowledge of communities in Perth would be desirable.



You will be able to use your initiative and make decisions, be a good team player and knowing when to seek further advice from a manager. Take responsibility for yourself, customers/ service users, contractors and others and ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety legislation. Promote and act as a role model for the Council's values and commitment to equality and diversity. Promote positive values and anti-discriminatory, non judgemental practise and treat colleagues and customers with dignity and respect.



No entry Qualification requirement but you will required and supported to work towards SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF level 6 (was SVQ2).



You must have a valid driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
