Our award-winning Communications Team is looking for a motivated and imaginative Social Content Assistant to join our fast-paced, supportive and friendly team.
This is a new role, focused on digital communications for Sheffield city centre and Sheffield Markets.

You will be in the heart of the action, linked into city centre regeneration, major events, market events and promotion and developing our channels. No two days are the same!
About you
You are creative, curious and always up to date with the latest trends on social media. You will be technology savvy, able to plan and edit videos and other creative content, update content management systems and plan email marketing.
You have experience of creating interesting, imaginative and original content for social media channels, (either in a work role or with your own channels).
You spend your day thinking about TikTok trends, the perfect Instagram caption or how to create a social video that will get people talking.
You enjoy meeting with and engaging with people online and in-person. You are comfortable chatting to new people and building relationships.

What will you be doing?

• Creating, scheduling and publishing content across our corporate, city centre and markets social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and more). This will include photos, copy writing and video.
• Managing social media channels, responding to public queries and supporting positive online conversations
• Updating web content including development of a new markets microsite
• Developing and delivering email marketing campaigns and growing subscriber lists
• Supporting campaigns, events and crisis communications
• Learning from a brilliant, supportive team who are passionate about making a difference

You will be part of the Social Media Team, dedicated to markets and city centre work and will be involved in relevant corporate communications where there is crossover.
Our team has a great reputation nationally for digital communication channel best practice. You will be fully supported by the Social Media Team (part of the wider corporate Communications Team) and will receive training and guidance from us day to day.
We offer hybrid working, home and work location based. This role will involve working on-site in the city centre, Moor Market, outdoor markets and Crystal Peaks Marketplace (ability to travel there several times a week is essential). You will need to be onsite a minimum of three days per week to meet stakeholders and generate content.
Who are we looking for?
Someone with a genuine interest in social media, web and email marketing, bags of creativity, and a willingness to learn and grow. You will need experience of creating content either in a work role or on personal accounts with a substantial following.
You will need to show us that you have created content which reached audiences and had an impact.

Flexible working and salary
Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your current basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
