Barnardo's is committed to providing 'Better Outcomes for More Children'. Our children's services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children's services and help make a real difference. Social Media Support Volunteers help us to keep the local community up to date with the services that we offer, as well as helping to share information from other local and national organisations. We are looking for people with good IT skills, excellent communication skills and a broad knowledge of social media platforms, to include Facebook and Twitter. We are the Trauma Informed Community Hub, and we run safe and friendly spaces where local people can get advice and support on things like mental health, housing, money, food, and wellbeing. We work alongside local groups and services to bring the kind of support that hasn't always been easy to find across Greater Manchester -- and we're proud to be changing that. Volunteers play a intrigual part of the direct support we offer our service users. To build on this, we are expanding the volunteering team to support with social media creation. The social media champion role will suit anyone looking to apply current learning in this area, or channel a creative hobby into something new. We ask that you would create social media posts for the service about themes/subjects that are either pre-determined by our calendar, or arise ad hoc. We ask that you have a specific interest in learning how to make content that is inclusive and accessible, or how to tailor content for those who want to learn/share more about the world of mental health or community support. For this role you will need access to your own laptop. We will provide access to a content creation platform including training on how to use this. We ask for around 4-6 hours a month, including additional time for supervision and training. Our team cannot function without knowledge of our service being availble to those who need it most. As Social Media Champion you will play a huge part in reaching out to local communities and spreading awareness of our work. We offer great supervision and skill development for our volunteers. Additionally, we get to know your individual goals and endvour to support you in that journey.

Could you help support a service to manage their social media content? Monitoring a range of social media platforms, creating meaningful content, reporting on insights, and so on?

Tasks: Posting content relating to the service onto social media platforms.


Sharing posts from other organisations on social media platforms.



Assist in effectively monitoring social media platforms.



Assist in reporting social media insights to the team.



Adhering to Barnardo's policies and procedures at all times, including Barnardo's: Safeguarding; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health & Safety; Data Protection; Confidentiality; Recording policies and procedures.



Participating fully in training and supervision.



Volunteering within Barnardo's Values and Behaviours.



Skills: Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.


Approachable and welcoming.



Knowledge and experience of various social media channels.



Good level of IT skills.
