Social Media Executive

Job Description

This role is full-time and predominantly located at our Head Office at the Cruise Centre, Barlborough. We're a friendly team, full of enthusiastic creative people who are passionate about the cruise and wider travel industry.

We are looking for an experienced Social Media Executive with at least 3 years+ experience with a passion for delivering engaging, creative content to our growing audience. You will be ambitious and bring an enthusiastic, energetic and can-do presence to the business.

You'll be responsible for a range of activity, including, but not limited to:

1. Social Media Strategy & Planning



Own, develop, and evolve the social media strategy using audience insights, industry trends, and competitor analysis. Define platform-specific objectives aligned with business goals and marketing priorities. Identify growth opportunities and new content directions to increase reach, engagement, and conversions.

2. Content Planning & Calendar Management



Plan, maintain, and deliver a varied content calendar across all platforms. Manage content covering campaigns, product launches, offers, staff trips and ship visits, awards, company updates, cruise news/blog content, and entertainment-led posts. Ensure content is balanced, timely, and aligned with wider marketing activity.

3. Content Creation & Creative Direction



Work closely with the in-house videographer to plan, brief, and deliver high-performing social-first video content. Create engaging non-video content, including caption writing, copywriting, and post formatting. Design high-quality static graphics using Canva (or equivalent), optimised for each platform's specifications. Ensure all creative follows brand guidelines, tone of voice, and messaging frameworks.

4. Paid Social Campaign Management



Plan, manage, and optimise large monthly budgets across Paid Meta campaigns. Align creative, messaging, and targeting with latest offers and website content. Monitor performance, optimise campaigns, and report on results to maximise ROI.

5. Publishing, Scheduling & Optimisation



Upload, schedule, and publish content across all social platforms. Optimise copy, formats, hashtags, thumbnails, and placements for each channel. Create tracked links and implement channel-specific campaign tracking for organic and paid content.

6. Community Management & Engagement



Manage day-to-day community management across all platforms. Monitor and respond to comments, DMs, and mentions in collaboration with support teams.

7. Performance Tracking & Reporting



Monitor organic and paid performance across all channels against set KPIs. Produce monthly performance reports and maintain ongoing social media metric spreadsheets. Identify trends, insights, and content patterns to inform future planning.

8. Stakeholder Collaboration & Leadership



Lead weekly Social Media meetings with key internal stakeholders. Communicate performance, priorities, upcoming campaigns, and growth opportunities. Work closely with the wider Marketing team to ensure social output is planned, coordinated, and effective.

9. Quality Control & Brand Protection



Manage internal proofing and approval processes for all social content. Proof and quality-check posts for accuracy, compliance, and brand consistency before publishing. Provide constructive feedback to the marketing team on deals, campaigns, and social assets.

10. Filming, Events & On-the-Ground Content



Attend industry events to capture real-time and behind-the-scenes content where required. Participate in ship visits and cruises to capture first-hand content for social channels. Support filming logistics and content capture planning as needed.

KEY SKILLS

(mandatory) -

Expert user of TikTok, Facebook and Instagram and a good working knowledge of all other platforms Experienced at creating and managing large budgets on Paid Meta Ads (creative, targeting, reporting and optimisation) Creating, managing and evolving a social media strategy Creating dynamic, engaging content and copy for posts Creating and managing an effective and engaging social media calendar Expert use of Canva (or similar platforms), its features and benefits Experience establishing, monitoring and reporting on social media KPIs Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail Experience working closely with a videographer or a strong understanding of social-first video (hooks, storytelling, pacing, text overlays, captions, safe zones, platform formats, trends/sounds/hashtags) to brief, quality-check and optimise video content for performance

KEY SKILLS

(Highly desirable) -

Experience using Meta Business Suite, Ads Manager, Buffer, Later or similar scheduling tools Experience with other creative design programmes Knowledge of Google Analytics and campaign tracking (UTMs, reporting, attribution basics) Experience with TikTok Business tools (TikTok Ads Manager, Spark Ads, TikTok Shop/content tools where relevant) Strong understanding of paid social testing frameworks (A/B testing creative, audiences, placements, and funnel stages) Experience managing influencer/creator collaborations and UGC sourcing/briefing
Experience in or a passion for travel would be a real asset, but we'll provide training in cruise product so it's very important you're keen to learn, proactive, and driven to succeed.

Hours are 9-5:30, Monday to Friday, salary DOE.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 28,000.00-30,000.00 per year
