Job summary




The Social Media Manager is responsible for shaping and executing NS&I's owned social media presence, with a focus on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube initially. This role will ensure that organic social content aligns with strategic business goals and effectively engages our priority audiences. They will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the channels but work closely with our strategic partners - who are responsible for moderating and responding to comments.

Manage the day-to-day handling of our owned social media channels with a focus initially on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, adapting content to suit different channels and audiences. Design, commission and curate high-quality multimedia content that is accessible, engaging and aligned with NS&I's content and brand standards - including the creation and governance of story-led and user-generated content. Work with Senior Content Strategist to develop a strategic approach to organic social media that supports wider organisational goals and engages target audiences, including setting targets and making recommendations on new platforms in the future. Work closely with external partners to moderate comments and provide quality responses - delivering training and guidance on tone and style where necessary. Work closely with Internal Comms colleagues who manage our owned LinkedIn account, Media Relations colleagues who manage our owned Twitter/X account, and our Marketing team who develop and manage paid social, to ensure messaging is consistent and aligned to strategy. Monitor social media trends, conversations, and audience insights to inform content and comms strategies. Analyse performance metrics and provide reports with recommendations for improving reach, engagement and impact. Ensure social media activities comply with data protection laws, accessibility standards, financial promotions policies and civil service communication policies. Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to support wider communications campaigns and crisis management where needed.

If shortlisted, you will be invited to attend a 1 hour panel interview via video call.


Additionally you will be asked to complete a 45 minute assessment at the conclusion of your interview to further assess your technical skills.
