About the Role



The Lodge Trust provides Christian support for adults with learning disabilities, helping each individual grow in confidence, independence and personal fulfilment. We are looking for a dedicated Social & Therapeutic Support Worker to join our team and support service users across a wide range of meaningful activities, community outings and therapeutic programmes.

This role involves providing practical, emotional and personal care support while helping service users develop new skills, engage in community activities and participate in Creative Enterprises. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Work and Education Services team to deliver high-quality, person-centred support.

Key Responsibilities



Supporting Service Users



Provide support and coaching to individuals or groups to develop specific work skills Assist with assessing individual needs and capabilities, breaking down tasks to support learning Support service users to access community-based activities, such as college courses, shopping, horse riding and medical appointments Provide personal care where required, including hygiene and toileting Support individuals in Creative Enterprises and Social & Therapeutic sessions Respond sensitively and flexibly as support needs change

Teamwork



Liaise with team leaders to ensure consistent support and use of shared skills Work collaboratively as part of the Work and Education Services team Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure high-quality overall service delivery

Social & Therapeutic Activities



Deliver high-quality support across all activity areas Maintain clean and tidy working and storage areas Support Lodge Trust events and organisational activities

Health & Safety and Administration



Follow all relevant Health & Safety policies Maintain a safe working environment at all times Complete required H&S checks and associated records Maintain appropriate administrative records Attend relevant meetings Maintain confidentiality at all times

Essential Criteria



Care Certificate, or willingness to complete within 12 weeks Prepared to work towards Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care Effective team working experience Experience supporting people with learning disabilities Ability to support service users in a person-centred way Ability to use initiative and respond appropriately in emergencies Able to work under pressure Effective IT skills Able to administer, plan and complete risk assessments Understanding of Health & Safety responsibilities Able to work as part of the Social & Therapeutic Activities Team Able to maintain confidentiality Able to uphold the ethos and work ethic of The Lodge Trust Physically and mentally able to meet the demands of the role Reliable, punctual and willing to learn

Desirable Criteria



First Aid qualification Food hygiene qualification Experience in leading a team Ability to advocate for adults with learning disabilities Full UK driving licence held for at least two years
