Job description

Social Work Practitioner (Emergency Duty Team)
Location: Pontypridd Police station
Salary: 47,754 pro rata;
Permanent Part time 18.5 hours
Actual salary 23,877 for 18.5 hours
We are currently looking for an experienced Social Work Practitioner to join our team, to work on a part time basis. You will work as part of a fixed rota, providing an emergency statutory social work response outside working hours to vulnerable children and adults. The post will require you to work weekend days, evening and night shifts, and the service is currently exploring relocation options and a return to more regular office working. However, a flexible approach will be maintained which will often include working from home.
We are looking for applicants with strong communication and interpersonal skills who are able to assess risk and make informed decisions in emergency situations. You will possess the ability to work independently and as part of a busy team, often alongside partner agencies such as Police and Health professionals whilst having a sound knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework for both Adults and Children.
It is essential that you possess the relevant Social Work Qualification and are registered with Social Care Wales. The possession of the Approved Mental Health Practitioner Award (AMHP) is highly desirable; however, it is expected the successful applicant will be willing to complete the AMHP training. This post pays a supplement for the AMHP qualification and for working unsocial hours (after 10pm and on weekends).
For further information please contact Carolyn Jenkins, Team Manager on (01443) 743665 or 07385 375537.
The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service check and Police vetting.

In view of the large number of Application Forms which are currently being submitted individual applications are not acknowledged. In which case you are thanked for the interest you have shown in applying for a position within the Council.
