Salary - 60,144 - 63,535 (Grade 9)



Hours - 37 hours per week



Contract type - full time, permanent

We need passionate and dynamic team managers, able to use a high support, high challenge approach to help shape Adult Social Care teams in Wolverhampton. We recognise the importance of strong leadership in supporting us to help drive forward our vision and support transformation. This means we have several exciting team manager opportunities available across our new service areas of Early Support, Disabilities and Mental Health and also Ageing Well and Safeguarding.


As Team Manager for Disabilities you will lead an exciting new social work service supporting adults over 18 and those preparing for adulthood with disabilities to live a gloriously ordinary life. The service will use a Three Conversations approach to find out what a good life looks like for the person, making sure the support and advice we give is right for the individual and not only meets their assessed eligible Care Act needs, but promotes their wellbeing and, if necessary, keeps them safe. We are looking for experienced, tenacious social work qualified managers who have a passion for supporting people with disabilities, including those with a forensic history, to lead a team of Assistant Team Managers and Social Workers. You will have a strong knowledge of legislation, including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act (including community deprivation of liberty) and the Mental Health Act, particularly section 117. You will also be confident in understanding and using performance data as well as quality assurance activity to help drive excellence in social work practice and outcomes for people, supporting the Service Manager for disabilities to drive forward change.

Our working arrangements




All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empower employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocated where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
