Safeguarding Social Worker
Newham Council | 32 per hour
Full-Time | 3-Month Rolling Contract
Caritas Recruitment is seeking a proactive and detail-focused Safeguarding Officer to join Newham Council's Adults Social Care Safeguarding and Independent Living Team (SAIL). This is a 3-month rolling contract, offering stability and ongoing opportunity within a fast-paced safeguarding environment.
In this role, you will provide the initial operational response to adult safeguarding concerns, ensuring timely screening, robust risk evaluation, and accurate information handling. You will play a crucial part in protecting Newham residents who may be at risk of harm, while promoting a personalised, strength-based approach throughout the safeguarding process.
Key Responsibilities
Screen incoming safeguarding concerns, assess risk, and ensure timely decision-making.
Complete key operational tasks including uploading documents, maintaining accurate case notes, and managing safeguarding inbox activity.
Respond directly to Newham residents who may be at risk of harm, as well as individuals or professionals raising concerns.
Make referrals to emergency services, partner agencies, and relevant safeguarding organisations.
Work collaboratively within the SAIL team, contributing to an effective, efficient, and person-centred safeguarding response.
Ensure individuals are supported to exercise choice, control, and autonomy in line with their defined outcomes.
What We're Looking For
Experienced safeguarding practitioner (social care background preferred).
Strong risk assessment, screening, and information-handling skills.
Excellent communication and ability to engage with residents, professionals, and partner agencies.
Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced safeguarding setting.
Commitment to strength-based, person-centred practice.
