We are seeking an experienced social worker to join the Children in Care Team. About the Service The Children in Care Team is dedicated to providing high-quality, consistent support for children and young people who are looked after. With a maximum caseload capped at 16, the service ensures social workers can build strong, lasting relationships with children and families, while delivering effective care plans and meaningful interventions. Staff are supported through regular reflective supervision, clear career pathways, and manageable caseloads to ensure practice remains child-centred. Key Responsibilities
Hold and manage a caseload of up to 16 children in care
Undertake statutory visits, assessments, and care planning
Develop and review care plans, ensuring they reflect the child's needs and aspirations
Prepare high-quality reports for reviews, permanency planning, and court proceedings
Work closely with foster carers, schools, health services, and other agencies
Promote stability, aspiration, and positive long-term outcomes for children in care
Candidate Requirements
Social Work England registration
Substantial post-qualified experience in children's services, ideally LAC/CIC
Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build effective relationships with children, families, and professionals
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to complete one)
