Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and young people in care, evaluating their needs, risks, and strengths.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans that prioritize the well-being and safety of children, in collaboration with the child, their family, and relevant professionals.
  • Provide direct support and intervention to children and young people in care, addressing their emotional, social, educational, and health needs.
  • Advocate for the rights and best interests of children, ensuring their voices are heard and considered in decision-making processes.
  • Work closely with foster carers, residential staff, and other professionals involved in the care of children, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Regularly review and monitor the progress and effectiveness of care plans, making necessary adjustments to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, adhering to relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and court hearings, providing professional expertise and contributing to decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, such as schools, healthcare providers, and legal services, to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to supporting children in care.
  • Continuously develop your professional knowledge and skills, staying updated on legislation, best practices, and research related to children in care.
Experience and Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker with a recognized social work qualification.
  • Registered with the appropriate regulatory body.
  • Proven experience working as a Social Worker, specifically in the area of children in care.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures pertaining to children in care.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle a demanding workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, demonstrating professionalism and integrity.
  • Resilience and emotional intelligence to effectively navigate challenging situations and provide support to vulnerable children and young people.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to enhance your skills and knowledge.
