We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Children with Disabilities (CWD) Social Worker to join a dedicated team in the Cheshire area. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and skilled professional to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with disabilities and their families.
As a Social Worker within the CWD team, you will be responsible for managing a varied caseload, providing high-quality statutory social work services, and supporting children with complex needs. You will work in partnership with families, carers, and professionals from health, education, and voluntary sectors to deliver coordinated and effective interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of children with disabilities in line with statutory requirements and local procedures.
Complete assessments, care plans, and reviews using a child-centred and strengths-based approach.
Ensure all safeguarding concerns are responded to appropriately, adhering to legislative frameworks including the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
Work collaboratively with families, schools, healthcare professionals, and other agencies to provide tailored support that promotes positive outcomes.
Contribute to multi-agency meetings and case conferences.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with local authority standards and data protection legislation.
Support children and families through transitions, such as moving between services or preparing for adulthood.
Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines.
Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker (Degree/Diploma in Social Work or equivalent)
HCPC/Social Work England registration (in good standing)
Proven experience working with children with disabilities, preferably within a statutory local authority setting.
Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation and guidance.
Ability to manage complex caseloads with strong organisational and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
