Why Brent Fostering Matters
We need more Brent foster carers for our Brent children. Supervising Social Workers are the key foundation to our strong Fostering Service! They play an integral part to our mission of supporting Brent foster carers to create safe and happy environments to Brent the children and young people in our care. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our fostering service operates effectively, our foster carers are supported and the needs of the families in our care are met with compassion and professionalism.
The Role
This is a role with real purpose. As a Social Worker in the Fostering Support and Assessment team, you will:
Carry out comprehensive fostering assessments of new fostering families.
Undertake regular reviews of our current foster carers, including presenting carers at the Brent fostering panel.
You will work closely with our partners in Foster with West London to undertake recruitment campaigns; including raising awareness of fostering and encouraging more potential families to consider fostering for Brent.
You will provide ongoing support, supervision and guidance to your allocated caseload of Brent foster families, helping them to navigate the challenges and rewards of fostering. You will conduct regular supervision visits, offer practical advice and ensure that carers are well-equipped to provide the best possible care to our Brent children.
It is crucial to maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure that all your practices comply with these standards. You'll play a key role in maintaining high standards of care and practice for our Brent foster carers.
You will work closely with multi-agency partners, from health professionals to schools and voluntary sector organisations, to provide joined-up care for Brent children.
The Person
We want Social Workers who are:
SWE registered, with 3 years post-qualifying experience in children's social care (experience with assessment and/or support of foster carers is highly desirable).
Knowledgeable about child care law and the Children Act, able to apply it confidently in practice.
Skilled at assessing complex needs and writing clear, evidence-based assessments, reviews and reports.
Compassionate, resilient, and committed to empowering foster carers and their families.
Strong collaborators who thrive in multi-agency environments and bring creativity to problem-solving.
Passionate about safeguarding children and committed to making a real difference.
