Social Worker Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a suitably qualified Social Worker to be based at the Haltemprice Community Wellbeing Team based in Hessle, working on a blended approach to include home working.
Although the post would be based in the Haltemprice Community Wellbeing Team, there is an expectation you may be required to work across other Community Wellbeing Teams in the East Riding.
The team covers a wide geographical area and the ability to drive is essential for which a car allowance can be claimed.
The role of social worker will be to work as an autonomous professional, demonstrating expert and effective practice in complex situations. This will include working with people and carers through the assessment process to identify, build and maintain family and social networks, to support and enable people and carers to actively stay well and independent, to use strength based approaches and work to protect people from harm.
Applicants must be a registered social worker preferably with experience of adult social care settings. However, newly qualified, registered social workers will be considered. You must demonstrate a good knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and ability to work within the legislative framework of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and the Human Rights Act. Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and working within safeguarding procedures is key to this role.
You must have excellent communication skills, the resilience to work under pressure and be flexible in your approach. Dependent on your experience you will be required to undertake the formal supervision of unqualified staff.
You will also possess good IT skills and be expected to input data on the adult information database which is essential in collating data for the performance agenda as well as compiling a complete individual electronic social care record.
All new staff will receive a comprehensive induction, regular supervision, employee development reviews and training opportunities.
