We are currently seeking a Justice Social Worker to join our Supply Bank, supporting Justice and Community Safety Services within Perth and Kinross Council. This flexible post involves delivering social work services across the Community Justice Social Work Team and the Prison-Based Social Work Teams at HMP Perth and HMP Castle Huntly.



As a Supply Worker, you will be called upon to provide cover in response to staff absences or increased service demand. Please note that work availability is not guaranteed and may vary in hours and duration.



Key responsibilities include:

Supervising individuals subject to statutory orders or licences issued by the Court or Parole Board. Conducting interviews and preparing reports for judicial and parole proceedings. Delivering services either in the community or within prison settings, depending on operational needs.

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking for a committed, experienced, and enthusiastic Social Worker with a strong interest in supporting individuals involved in the justice system. You should be confident managing a diverse and busy caseload and demonstrate a proactive, flexible approach to your work.



Essential qualities include:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal abilities to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders. Organisational skills and a methodical approach to workload management. Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

You should be capable of:

Supporting individuals to address offending behaviour through collaborative work with other services. Assessing and managing risk in line with National Standards. Demonstrating sound judgement and negotiation skills.

A commitment to ongoing professional development is essential, as is the ability to support colleagues through sharing expertise.



A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., DIPSW, CQSW, CSS).



Current registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), with responsibility for maintaining annual membership.



Willingness to undergo vetting to NPPV Level 1 to access and use the Violent and Sex Offender Register (ViSOR).



You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
