North Yorkshire Council have a national reputation for excellence, and we are looking for a Social Worker to join our Family Assessment and Support Team. We also welcome those who are looking to relocate.

The Role

Our Family Assessment and Support Teams work with children, young people and their families who are Children in Need and children subject to child protection plans.



As part of the role, you will:


Collaborate with each child's unique support network to promote positive change

Receive extensive training and development tailored to your practice

Engage in both short-term assessments and long-term support via Child and Family Plans and Protection Plans

Opportunity to be involved in pre-proceedings and care proceedings

Support children and young people from birth up to age 18

Build strong partnerships with external agencies and other teams in North Yorkshire




Support You Will Receive:


Dedicated Team Manager and Practice Supervisors to support social workers within the team.

Skilled business support professionals to enable you to spend more time with Children, Young People and their families.

Robust supervision policy with regular individual and group sessions

Participate in county-wide practice forums, conversation cafes, and reflective learning with our Principal Social Worker




A good understanding of all aspects of the relevant legislation, practice and court process will be needed. In NYC we have an extensive training and learning offer and will support you in your continual professional development. This includes all aspects of our defined practice model, Systemic, signs of safety and family seeing/network training.
