Job Description




West Dunbartonshire HSCP - Children & Families Post 1 35 hours - Aurora House, Clydebank Post 2 35 hours Church Street, Dumbarton.

Vacancies have arisen for Social Workers in our dedicated Special Needs in Pregnancy Team (Snips) based in Aurora House, Clydebank and Church Street, Dumbarton.

The successful candidates will be lead professional within a multi-agency statutory setting providing early help, targeted support and child protection interventions in respect of vulnerable women and their children both pre and post birth, including responsibility as lead professional for some children who become looked after and who may require permanence away from home.

The posts will also align with a period of redesign, offering the successful candidates an exciting opportunity to contribute to a process of review and change within the service.

At present the posts are locality specific however may be subject to some revision. This will be undertaken in full consultation with the post holders and is linked to a wider review of local services.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found .

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
