Soft Services Operations Manager
to join our team and lead cleaning operations, primarily within educational settings.
The Role
We are seeking a
caring, innovative, and hands-on leader
to manage, inspire and develop our cleaning teams across a diverse portfolio of contracts--predominantly in schools. This role works closely with the wider Operational Management Team and reports directly to the Operations Director.
You'll be based at our Southend-on-Sea headquarters but will regularly visit client sites to ensure service excellence, build strong relationships, and drive performance.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure service delivery meets client expectations and contractual Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Conduct regular client meetings, including KPI reviews and service evaluations.
Lead internal and external audits in collaboration with the Operational Management Team.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and on-site teams.
Recruit, train, and manage cleaning staff across multiple locations, ensuring high standards and team motivation.
Monitor and drive service performance, ensuring compliance with all company and statutory requirements.
Manage budgets and oversee procurement of equipment, chemicals, and consumables.
Supervise HR-related processes including attendance, performance management, and staff development.
What We're Looking For
Essential
Full UK Driving Licence
Strong background in the cleaning industry
Experience managing large teams across multiple contracts
People-focused with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
Sound knowledge of COSHH regulations
Confident IT user with good reporting and communication skills
BICSc qualification or equivalent practical experience
Desirable
Experience within the security industry
SIA Door Supervisor Licence
IOSH Managing Safely qualification
Multi-sector service delivery experience
Working Hours
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Flexibility is essential - early starts, late finishes, and occasional weekend work may be required.
