Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Software and Electrical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, integration and maintenance of software and electrical systems across our ROV platforms. You will work closely with a team of engineers and technicians to design, test, and refine control systems, sensor interfaces and hardware integrations for tools used in variety of applications in demanding subsea environments.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in C/C++ and Linux. Experience with Git and a front-end/UI framework (such as QML/Qt) for building operator interfaces is highly desirable. Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 is desirable.

Liaise daily with the Lead Software/Electronic Engineer on project activities.

Design and develop software and electrical systems for ROVs, including control loops, sensor interfaces, communication links, and hardware integration.

Implement and maintain end to end software solutions for control systems, data acquisition, and visualization.

Collaborate with engineers and technicians to design, test, validate and troubleshoot ROV subsystems.

Develop and maintain software primarily in Linux (embedded and desktop), using other programming languages as required.

Integrate sensors, actuators, valvepacks and navigation hardware into ROV control stack.

Provide remote support or workshop troubleshooting when required, including root-cause analysis across software, electronics, and network boundaries.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, interface definitions, system diagrams, test procedures, and software documentation.

Contribute to the design and development of new products and technologies

Person Specification -

Qualifications and certification:



- Degree In Electrical / Electronic Engineering or Degree In Software Engineering

- Full UK Driving licence (if position involves driving a company vehicle, licence must allow driving of manual vehicles)

Knowledge:



- Proficiency in C/C++ programming and Linux,

- Experience a front-end programming language

- Able to evaluate trade-offs between software complexity, hardware constraints, and operator usability.

Skills & Competencies:



- Ability to work under pressure,

- Strong problem-solving and communication skills,

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Experience with ROV control systems and/or robotics (preferred)

- Comfortable owning problems end-to-end, from understanding the requirement to delivering, testing, and refining the solution.

Experience:



- Have worked in a similar role for at least 2 years.

- Have implemented and maintained advanced software control systems in previous roles.
