About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Software Developer to support and enhance Astra, as well as contribute to broader development projects across the business.

You'll work closely with our Technical Lead to improve Astra's front-end and back-end systems and help deliver smart, maintainable solutions that support internal teams. There will also be opportunities to support projects involving artificial intelligence (AI) where suitable.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract role (not freelance or contracting), with the potential to extend depending on business needs.

What You'll Be Doing

Developing and maintaining TypeScript codebases across front-end and back-end Investigating and resolving bugs in production and internal environments Building back-end services using Node.js and integrating with SQL databases Working on internal tools that support teams across the business Writing clear, testable code to ensure long-term stability and scalability Exploring practical applications of AI to improve tools and workflows Collaborating closely with our Technical Lead and wider team

What We're Looking For

Essential:

2-3+ years of commercial experience using Node.js, TypeScript, and React Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or a related field), or equivalent experience Comfortable working in, improving, and maintaining existing codebases Confident writing clean, modular, well-tested code Clear understanding of code versioning, debugging, and modern dev practices Ability to manage your own workload and communicate effectively in a remote team Willingness to learn, take on feedback, and develop your career within a supportive environment

Desirable:

Experience with: Amazon Web Services (AWS), particularly Lambda, Aurora, and RDS Structured Query Language (SQL) Python Applying automation or AI in internal tools

Important Information

This role is fully remote, but you're welcome to use our London West End office if you prefer a hybrid setup, this is completely optional. You must already have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom for the full 12-month contract. Unfortunately, we cannot provide sponsorship. This is a fixed-term employment contract, not a freelance or contractor role.
