We are Conscious Solutions, the UK's leading digital agency for the legal sector. We help make law firms more successful online, and we're looking for the next member of our growing team.
About us
As the market leaders in our sector, we have over 300 clients across the UK and internationally. We are on a growth journey, with a track record of developing our employees and promoting from within. We're generous, transparent, inquisitive, collaborative and empowering.
The technical team runs our web hosting environment with over 300 full content management websites and over 2000 domains in total (including all the odd stuff, static sites, and sites that are just redirect rules). We also support the rest of the company by running internal services, including CRM and email, as well as development and test environments for the web development team. This is all based on the Conscious Cloud, a hybrid private/public cloud hosted over two data centres and Digital Ocean. We also assist with integration work and provide tools and guidance for reporting.

You will work with the other members of the team to develop API based services and support the hosting platform. You will also be doing some data analysis under the guidance of the more experienced team members, to support the decisions of the rest of the business.
Required Skills
Applicants must have the following experience:-
Minimum 2 years programming using Perl (preferably) or another C-derived language (e.g. Python, PHP, Javascript)
Good database skills, preferably with PostgreSQL (but MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, etc, are ok).
Good Linux command line skills or similar with a commercial Unix operating system
Desirable Skills
Experience with/of the following is desirable, but not required:-
Experience of data design, third normal form, and database tuning for performance
Experience of developing with the Apache and nginx web servers
Experience with X.509 and any part of the PKI certificate infrastructure
Experience of source control systems, such as GitLab and Subversion
Experience with Red Hat Package Manager (RPM) for distributing software
Don't meet every single requirement?
We understand that not everybody will apply for a job unless they meet every single qualification. We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't perfectly align with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles. This view aligns with two of our values, which are to be empowering to members of our team and to collaborate with them to ensure they can excel in their role.
