Software Engineer - Database & Display

Contract role Inside IR35

Salary: 600 - 700 day rate

Key Skills / Screening Questions:

Experience as SCADA/EMS/DMS Developer, Database Designer, Data Modeler Experience creating electrical data models (Transmission & Distribution) for SCADA/EMS/DMS (2+ years) Expertise in PL/SQL and Oracle database management Software development experience in C/C++/Java or similar Experience developing or migrating operator displays/dashboards/HMIs for real-time control Skills across Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, SLD, Display, Historian Integration

We are seeking a Software Engineer specialising in Database and Display development for real-time power system applications. This role involves data modeling, database engineering, historian integration, and development of operator displays/HMIs for SCADA/EMS/DMS environments.

Requirements:

Hands-on expertise in platforms such as PowerOn Reliance (XA21), AEMS, GE eTerra, PowerOn Advantage, or equivalent systems (Siemens, OSI, ABB, Schneider, etc.) Proven experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar RDBMS Strong experience in SLD creation, HMI development, dashboards, operator displays, and reporting Programming/scripting in C, C++, PERL, Java or equivalent Experience with real-time data acquisition, historian integration, replication, and logging Query optimization, indexing, performance tuning, and database health monitoring Version control experience (Git, SVN, or similar) Design, develop, and maintain databases and data models for EMS/DMS/SCADA systems Develop and maintain dashboards, HMI interfaces, and station/operator displays Ensure performance, reliability, and data integrity under real-time operational loads Develop scripts, APIs, and services for integration, replication, and reporting Troubleshoot and resolve database/display issues; perform root-cause analysis Maintain documentation including schemas and display specifications Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills Experience in incident management and resolving production issues
