Job Description

This London-based Software Engineer role is within the public sector and offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring at least two days in the office each week. The successful candidate will be integral to developing, maintaining, and enhancing web applications, primarily utilizing React and AWS technologies. The role demands strong technical expertise in JavaScript, React, Node.js, and TypeScript, with a focus on creating reusable, testable components and building RESTful APIs.


Candidates should have a solid understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6), JSX, and developing accessible, responsive layouts using CSS/SASS. Experience working in serverless environments leveraging AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Cognito, and RDS is essential. The role emphasizes best practices like test-driven development and familiarity with testing frameworks such as Jest and React Testing Library.


Desirable qualifications include experience with PostgreSQL, Git, CI/CD pipelines (eg, GitHub Actions), and working within Agile teams. Strong collaboration and communication skills are vital, as the role involves liaising with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Additional preferred skills include end-to-end testing (eg, Cypress) and security clearance, which can be advantageous in this public sector setting.
