Spun out from the University of Oxford in 2017, Opsydia is a specialist laser technology company harnessing decades of academic excellence and experience in adaptive optics that enable the writing of features in transparent materials. Our writing technology has gone on to provide functionalities across many scientific and industrial areas.



Our technology provides a platform for functional devices in diamond and other transparent materials, with several disruptive applications ranging from quantum to sensing devices. Already established within Opsydia are outstanding reputations in the two areas of Photonics and Gemstones.

THE ROLE





We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our growing team and lend their expertise to help us develop our broad software suite. You will be joining a friendly, dynamic and hard-working team who enjoy working together to solve whatever challenges are thrown at them.



In particular you will:-


Develop software solutions for our industrial machinery including: + hardware control
+ real-time monitoring
+ user interfaces for operators and service engineers
+ R&D tools
Write clean and maintainable code using C#, Dart, and other programming languages, as appropriate Collaborate across teams to integrate software with mechanical and electrical systems Maintain a focus on application security Document your work and keep the team updated on progress Collaborate with others to guide software design and architecture Improve existing software in response to feature and support queries Provide technical support for software issues encountered in production environments



ABOUT YOU



You will be able to demonstrate that you have the following:-




2+ years professional software development experience Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including C# Familiarity with Git version control Experience with debugging and troubleshooting complex software systems Experience working collaboratively within a small team environment Excellent communication skills and attention to detail A degree in computer science, software engineering, or other scientific disciplines



You may also have:-




Experience designing automation software for industrial machinery/IoT devices Knowledge of machine vision systems Experience of user interface design Experience in cybersecurity or application security for hardware systems Understanding of DevOps Experience with cloud computing platforms and services Experience working within a startup environment

The role is advertised as full-time, however, part-time would be considered at a minimum of 0.8fte.



We are pleased to accommodate flexible and hybrid working where appropriate but, as a hardware company, we find hands-on system and collaboration time to be highly valuable, so encourage time spent in the office and expect this when required.



As part of the recruitment process a selected candidate will be required to undergo security screening to BS7858.

50,000 - 60,000pa
