Job Description

Full Time, Fixed Term for 12 months.



We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer Practitioner to join an in-house Delivery Team of our vibrant city's local government.

Responsibilities include



As part of an agile team, collaborate with business users, stakeholders, and junior engineers to identify areas for improvement and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions. Provide technical expertise, acting in a consultative, collaborative capacity to solve problems and deliver the best outcomes. Promote Agile software engineering excellence within the organisation. Analyse requirements and advise on options, taking customer perspectives fully into account. Champion quality: setting and applying software development approaches and standards.



Skills required



Proven experience working with Java, web services, continuous integration Ability to solve complex problems and apply creative solutions to meet difficult technical challenges. Ability to provide domain expertise, acting as a subject expert in large projects and provide technical leadership to colleagues. Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical skills development and effective teamwork.

For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.





For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.
