Software Engineer

A Day in the Life:



The

Software Engineer (Robotics)

will fulfill the role of Software Engineer within a research and development team composed of a Systems Architect, other Software Engineers, Software QA Engineers, a Product Owner, and a Scrum Master while having specific responsibilities related to control of hardware instrumentation. This individual will work closely with Firmware and Hardware R&D team members to understand the mechanical principles of existing systems and new products under development, requiring excellent communication skills with these roles. This individual will implement new motion and imaging profiles for current generation systems and own triage of reported issues for legacy systems. In a fast-paced commercial environment, this individual will need a strong bias towards action, with an ability to make technical decisions, obtain necessary information from peers, and escalate when required.

What we are looking for in you:



Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field Experience creating, extending, and maintaining device control software systems (axis command and control systems, camera and lighting control, aspiration/dispensing) C#/.NET Programming Experience in Visual Studio Good understanding of Object Oriented Design and Principles Experience working with Serial Communications Protocols (RS232, RS485, USB, GigE, etc) Experience debugging and troubleshooting high-speed complex hardware systems both on-site and remotely Experience with .NET compatible testing frameworks and technologies (nUnit etc) Experience with working in a business-oriented Agile environment Practice and understanding of Git source control and integration into Visual Studio Ability to communicate clearly and effectively within a multi-disciplined team
