Job Summary

Cegeka UK are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Software Engineer to join our development team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Java development, Spring framework, relational databases, and a strong desire to grow their technical skills while contributing to Cegeka' software solutions.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications using the Spring framework. Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code that adheres to best practices. Work with SQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) to design schemas, write queries, and optimise performance. Collaborate with senior engineers to implement new features and fix bugs. Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving coding standards. Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning of applications. Document technical designs, processes, and solutions. Stay up to date with emerging tools, technologies, and best practices.

Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Solid programming skills in Java with exposure to object-oriented programming principles. Understanding of Spring / Spring Boot for application development. Hands-on experience with SQL databases, writing queries, and working with relational data. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git). Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new technologies. Good communication and teamwork skills. Must be eligible and willing to attain an SC level clearance Exposure to RESTful APIs and microservices architecture. Basic knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). Understanding of Agile methodologies. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). Familiarity with Cloud technologies such as Azure and AWS. Familiarity with Atlassian applications such as Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket
