About the job you're considering

Software Developer (Guidance Navigation Control)- Stevenage/Hybrid



Software developer with Guidance Navigation control experience is preferred but we are also open to professionals with expertise development with C, C++, Python, Github, MS Visual Studios, ROS 2 regardless of industry background.



Hybrid working:

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your role

GNC evolution - enhanced functionality of rovers - 2028 mission - Agile - 2 week sprint.



Big code base, highly optimized - complex, local motion - simulation, low-level networking.



Algorithm development, code quality, 90% documented code, Sensor servers, cameras, Ubuntu & RedHat, Network administrator, Docker containerization.

Your skills and experience


------------------------------

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field required. (or are working towards one for interns)



Desired Experience (required for experienced applicants):



C/C++ development, git for version control.

Python development, in particular data processing and the use of graphing libraries.

Linux operating systems and bash CLI/scripting.


Experience with the following technologies is beneficial:



GitLab/GitHub or similar platform for collaborative development.

Continuous Integration (CI).

gcc, make, cmake and related compilation infrastructure.

ROS 2, or other robotics middleware.

Integrated development workflow, in particular use of VS Code as an IDE.


Experience in the following topics:



Control algorithms, in particular control of actuators or processing of sensor data (e.g. IMU, lidar) and vision based navigation.

Simulation modelling, developing models of equipment, dynamics or the environment.


Robotics hands on skills, e.g.:



Soldering

Basic electronics

Basic networking

Basic knowledge about cameras

OS installation and package management

Your security clearance

To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.

Works in the area of Software Engineering, which encompasses the development, maintenance and optimization of software solutions/applications.1.
