Typical Activities



Working in collaboration with internal stakeholders across Engineering, Product, Project Management and Executive Leadership, the Software Engineering Resource Manager will be responsible for leading engineering capability, resource management and technical delivery.

Line manage a team of approximately 8 software engineers, providing performance management, coaching and career development Set objectives and conduct regular one-to-ones to monitor progress and support professional growth Manage engineering resource supply and demand across multiple projects, including recruitment, training and succession planning Assess and grow engineering capability through skills analysis, training initiatives and targeted recruitment Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams, acting as a point of escalation where required Support the design, development and delivery of new and existing products Oversee planning, estimation and coordination of engineering activities, including scope, schedule and budget Review and approve engineering outputs to ensure quality, consistency and fitness for purpose Contribute to bids, proposals and technical planning activities Drive consistency, governance and adherence to company and project processes






What we're looking for



Proven experience as a line manager, including performance management, objective setting and staff development Strong technical background with specialist knowledge in a software or engineering discipline and awareness of adjacent disciplines Experience working in a regulated product development environment Ability to plan, estimate and manage technical development work across the full lifecycle Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product and leadership teams Experience reviewing and producing high-quality technical documentation Ability to translate loosely defined problems into clear, actionable plans Experience providing technical oversight across multiple projects






Desirable

Experience contributing to bids and technical proposals Exposure to recruitment activities and external talent engagement Experience working with or engaging universities or research organisations Awareness of emerging technologies relevant to secure or advanced software systems

Qualifications & Eligibility



To be eligible for this position you must:

Have significant experience in software engineering and people management (or a relevant degree with equivalent experience); and Be a British citizen; and Hold or be eligible for UK National Security Vetting (NSV) - DV level clearance.
