PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The SAP Global License Audit and Compliance (GLAC) organization is responsible for protecting SAP’s intellectual property, while putting the customer experience first and foremost. We provide license audit and compliance tools and services to our customers, that are reliable, predictable, transparent, and globally consistent. Within the GLAC organization, the License and Compliance Management (LCM) function is a Centre of Excellence delivering consulting and advisory services to customers and internal colleagues and stakeholders, to ensure customers are appropriately licensed, and to enable smart license management. The LCM Team is the key interface between SAP’s license auditors in the Shared Service Centres and the Office of License Compliance on the one hand, and SAP’s Customers and Sales organization on the other. LCM Team members are responsible for planning the annual customer audit cycle, selecting the most appropriate audit approach, liaising with key customer contacts, ensuring the audit process and scope are well understood, explaining and clarifying audit results. LCM Team members also manage other non-audit aspects of compliance, including extended use rights and digital access requirements, as well as responding to customer requests for pro-active support and guidance.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS The License Compliance Specialist has a key role to support the GLAC mission and operate on a market unit (MU) or specific regional level and is responsible for managing his or her own time in providing this support. An LCM Senior Specialist maintains a high-level understanding of SAP licensing models, policies and procedures and Global License Audit and Compliance customer-facing Service Catalog including: Basic and Enhanced Audit, Supplementary Audit Services, License Advisory, Deal Support, License Compliance Interviews, and License Management Initiatives. They can understand and articulate the relative features, business impact and value of these services relative to specific customer situations. The role encompasses the following key activities:

  • Area 1: Planning – support analysis required to develop a territory or MU plan, which defines the targeting and scheduling of license compliance activities and programs, so as to make the best use of available resources. Contribute to the qualification and justification of the choice of audit candidates based on compliance indicators, contractual analysis and account intelligence. Communicate personal experiences of audit and compliance, such that opportunities for sharing best practice are identified and taken advantage of.
  • Area 2: Execution - Support engagements with customer personnel and be perceived as a subject matter expert, at least on Basic Audit services. Maintain agreed with cadence and quality, so that MU can meet allocated revenue contribution goals. Establish an ongoing relationship with selected partners to enable ongoing indirect compliance management and provide support and guidance to partners, lower GB sales and commercial sales executives, to enable audit completion and timely resolution. Contribute to the maintenance of an independent view of GLAC influenced revenue for the current quarter and Q+1. Foster a positive impression of SAP License Audit and Compliance processes.
The primary tasks and responsibilities of a License Compliance Manager - Senior Specialist are to:
  • Assist in pro-actively providing license advisory services to customers on licensing entitlements and positions, product metrics and audit processes.
  • Support effective planning of the audit schedule, determine audit scope and ensure timely delivery.
  • Support the audit process with necessary co-ordination and specific supporting tasks, and be the first point of contact with sales, customers, and partners.
  • Follow up on the basic audits conducted by the SSC and analyze any license gaps.
  • Identify needs for additional licensing and/or contractual changes outside audit cycle.
  • Explain and help to regularize out of compliance cases.
  • Provide contractual guidance on new and existing agreements.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Professional experience with software/IT organizations with some exposure to software licensing and/or pricing models. SAP product experience desirable.
  • Proven attention to detail and quality focus.
  • Analytical with high levels of numeracy and verbal reasoning.
  • Team worker capable of taking direction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) desirable.
