About the role




At Pharmaxo Scientific we work alongside our sister companies to develop and maintain bespoke software solutions, which are used daily to deliver medication and medical services to thousands of patients nationwide.


As a QA Engineer you will be embedded in one of our two development teams and will play a key role in ensuring that our software meets business and regulatory requirements by planning and implementing a mix of manual and automated tests. Youll also need to work closely with the QA engineer on the other team, to ensure we take consistent approaches and follow best practices across both teams.

About you




We are looking for a passionate and talented QA Engineer; beyond day-to-day testing activity you will use your knowledge and experience to help shape quality focussed processes both within our development team, and in our interactions with the wider business units. You should be self-motivated and engaged, and collaborative when working with the development team, product manager, and wider business stakeholders.


You should be comfortable working remotely, under your own initiative and as part of the wider team. You will need strong technical knowledge, and a proven track record of problem-solving. The ability to learn quickly is important as youll have to pick up new technologies, and you will be expected to gain a deep understanding of our pharmaceutical business domain.


Strong communication skills are essential so you can interact with key stakeholders across multiple levels and understand business requirements.

What youll do






Participate in our Scrum development process. Be able to reflect on our development process and suggest meaningful improvements. Understand system requirements and use a risk-based approach to design test approaches to verify that requirements are met without regressions. Execution of manual test cases, and implementation of automated E2E tests in conjunction with the developers in the team. Gain a deep level of domain understanding in the activities of our group companies and the way our software fits into their processes. Gain an understanding of the regulations which apply to our software and how that influences the documentation we are required to produce. Work with business stakeholders and help select appropriate standards, methods and tools for use by our team as we evolve our test strategy towards automation.

You should have experience in the following:



Manual and automated testing methodologies. Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and testing processes. The use of appropriate tools and strategies to design and execute test plans, including functional, regression, performance, and usability testing. Writing clear and concise bug reports and test documentation. Working within an agile environment (Scrum)

Even better if you have experience in some of the following:



Specific knowledge of the Playwright framework, which we use for our automated E2E tests Delivering software into a regulated environment Pharmaceutical industry experience Knowledge of common security issues based on the OWASP top 10 Automation of the creation of test environments and seed data, including use of Docker Git and Github CI/CD tools such as TeamCity

Salary: 45,000 - 55,000 per annum Annual leave of 25 days + bank holidays (increasing to 27 days after 3 years service) Annual company bonus scheme (subject to scheme eligibility) Pension - you will be auto-enrolled after 3 months of employment at 5% (with an employer contribution of 4%).
