We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for a Software & Systems Engineer to join a Queen\xe2\x80\x99s Award-winning scientific instrumentation provider in Tewkesbury. As part of a wider group this material science business specialises in powder characterisation offering a globally recognised product suite that supports the pharma chemical manufacturing food and ceramic sectors. Due to physical product interaction this is an on-site role based in Tewkesbury with flexible working hours for those who need it.

What skills you\xe2\x80\x99ll need

Essential
  • Skilled in desktop and GUI development for Windows/Linux.
  • Well-versed in C#/C WinForms Qt/QML or something similar.
  • Commercial knowledge or hobbyist interest in electronics and hardware engineering.
  • Competent with physical products such as scientific/lab instrumentation medical devices industrial equipment mechatronics or similar.
  • Interest in physics mathematics problem solving graphical interfaces.
Desirable
  • Understanding of embedded software and electronic systems.
  • System hardware integration expertise.
  • Knowledge of bare metal programming comms protocols (SPI CAN Ethernet etc.).
  • PCB layout schematic design experience.
  • Awareness of digital closed loop control and signal processing.

As part of a small multi-skilled team this varied role supports the further development of the business\xe2\x80\x99 analytical lab instruments. There\xe2\x80\x99s a mixture of flagship product maintenance & enhancement as well as involvement in the build of new & innovative products which aim to shake up the material characterisation market. Considering the small team you\xe2\x80\x99ll need to be well-rounded and adaptable with willingness to be involved in physical device interaction on a daily basis though you\xe2\x80\x99ll also act as a specialist in software and system architecture. You\xe2\x80\x99ll enjoy working on complex physics problems offering an eye for detail and an analytical mindset to product maintenance and improvement.

As well as a salary up to \xc2\xa352K you\xe2\x80\x99ll be entitled to a discretionary annual bonus (between 3-5%) based on company performance (which is consistently hit).
