Compton Group is a dynamic, entrepreneurial family-owned group with a head office in Swansea. In particular, we co-developed the largest solar park in the UK and we now own a portfolio of some 57,000 residential and commercial ground rents, generating 3.5 million p.a. in income. Across the group, we employ 130 people.

Our portfolio of solar projects encompasses a diverse range of initiatives, from rooftop PV installations to the co-development of the UK's largest solar park, Shotwick Solar Farm, at 72MW (peak). These projects not only generate clean, renewable energy but also create opportunities for economic growth and job creation within the region.

Solar Development Manager



You will be responsible for fully exploiting the solar PV systems previously installed by the original developers on some of our 1,100 blocks of flats as well as arranging new installations on other blocks. Drawing on your expertise and external resources, your role will encompass managing the existing installations and overseeing new installations of solar PV schemes, along with ensuring that the sale to the leaseholders and block managers of electricity generated by the installed schemes is properly administered. You will report directly to the CEO.

Operating within predefined budgets and timelines, you will maintain meticulous tracking and reporting using established project management methodologies and tools. The position demands a comprehensive understanding of commercial, technical, and construction aspects crucial for successful PV scheme delivery. Our in-house legal team will provide support for any legal inquiries. Additionally, extensive travel within England and Wales is expected due to project requirements.

Key Duties



Prioritising health and safety in all decision-making processes. Managing existing installations to maximise returns. Planning, implementing and delivering schemes with a blend of internal and external resources. Taking ownership of projects from inception to handover, ensuring seamless execution throughout the project life cycle, and subsequent maintenance of the schemes post-installation. Regularly updating budgets and monthly project costs. Maintaining and updating tracker reports and conducting project risk assessments. Conducting site visits and meetings with block managers.

Required Skills



A good understanding of electrical systems and solar panel technologies is crucial. Experience in renewable energy projects. Self-motivation and initiative. Strong analytical skills with acute attention to detail. Team-oriented with effective communication skills across all organisational levels. Excellent written and oral communication abilities. Full driving licence.

Location, working patterns and benefits



Our office is conveniently located in Morriston, Swansea close to J45 of the M4. We envisage that you will spend at four days per month on site visits to the blocks across England and Wales. At other times you are expected to attend our office in Morriston.

The position is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday with an hour for lunch. with a flexible start time between 8 am and 9 am and a finish time between 4 pm and 5 pm.
