Our Police, Care and Justice team are currently hiring a Solicitor to join the Inquest team in London or Manchester.



The team provide expertise in niche areas of Civil Litigation, Healthcare Advisory, Inquest and Public Inquiry representation.



The Inquest team handle a variety of work, from high-profile, multi-party Article 2 jury inquests to one-two day inquests.



Our team offers a full advocacy service and collaborates with counsel for longer inquests.



Additionally, the wider team defend claims involving EL/PL, personal injury, false imprisonment, assault, negligence, and breaches of data protection legislation, the Equality Act, Human Rights Act, and Judicial Reviews.



The role is hybrid with travel required to our Manchester or London office at least 1-2 days per week with potential for national and overnight travel to attend court hearings and meetings.


Responsibilities:
Represent both the public and private sector including numerous police forces, prisons, healthcare and education providers. Act for clients in multi-party Article 2 jury inquests in addition to one - two day straightforward inquests. Provide a full advocacy service where required alongside instructing counsel for longer inquests. Manage your own caseload as well as assist more experienced solicitors.

What will help you succeed in this role? :

Essential



Knowledge of inquests and experience of running a caseload. Knowledge of police, prison, education and or healthcare inquests in at least one of the above areas is also essential. Demonstrate a real enthusiasm and interest in the work. A team player with strong communication skills and good attention to detail. Ability to use your own initiative, be well organised, comply with strict deadlines and, willing to under-take training with support and guidance from other team members.

Advocacy experience at inquests is highly desirable.
